Elsie
Founder
As a Mental Health Practitioner in the field for several years and having met clients suffering from anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and many more, Elsie believes more needs to be done to create awareness, provide the right advice and work towards removing the stigma in our society, especially in the BAME and religious circles.
She says, growing up in Western Africa, she experienced people calling those that suffered mental health 'crazy' or saying 'they are mad'. These were people who had psychosis-presenting with symptoms such as hallucinations (hearing voices) and delusions (believing there is a conspiracy to cause them harm). Elsie is a Coordinator involved with the National Health Service in the UK. In this role, Elsie maps provision, monitors and influences service development, as well as social integration. This is a very supportive role for her clients. She specialises in improving access to psychological interventions and has successfully served a range of clients, from minority groups, including asylum seekers and refugees, single parents, people on benefits trying to break out of it, young people who were in danger of not being in education, employment or training, local governments (boroughs), schools, hospitals. Elsie coordinates mental health and employment services to facilitate the recovery process of people (young, displaced, rejected, abused...) struggling to break perceived ideas, back into education and work, encouraging their usefulness to themselves and society. She is passionate about inclusiveness and its far-reaching possibilities. She also provides coaching and mentoring services that help people from disadvantaged backgrounds and young people realise basic skills and life skills to promote equal opportunities. Elsie is the creator of a Youtube channel/forum, Password, which is frequented by many subscribers and listeners, who enjoy it weekly.
